Google Review Cards for Hotels, Lodges and Guesthouses
Google review cards for hotels, lodges and guesthouses
ReviewTap supplies branded NFC and QR review cards and counter stands to South African hotels, lodges and guesthouses, pointed at your Google profile, your Tripadvisor listing, or both. Cards from R299, stands from R499, branded from R449 and R649. Properties in a group get a separate destination each, so reviews land on the right listing. Free delivery above R1,000 and 5 to 7 working days for custom print.
What your sector actually rates
Accommodation is the most heavily reviewed sector in South Africa. In our benchmark of 85 SA businesses, accommodation carried a median of 133 reviews per property, against 21 for medical practices and 19 for trades. Guests review where they slept as a matter of habit.
| Measure | Accommodation | All 85 SA businesses |
|---|---|---|
| Mean Google rating | 4.63 | 4.66 |
| Median reviews per business | 133 | 32 |
| Range in sample | 4.2 to 5.0 | 3.1 to 5.0 |
| Businesses measured | 12 | 85 |
That cuts both ways. Because everyone in your sector has reviews, a thin review count stands out badly in a way it would not in a trade. And because ratings fall as volume rises, holding above the sector mean of 4.63 at 200-plus reviews is genuinely hard, and genuinely worth something.
Figures from the ReviewTap South African Review Benchmark, Edition 1, read live from Google Business Profiles in August 2026 across 85 South African businesses and 9,419 reviews. Sector cells are small samples and are indicative rather than definitive. We publish the sample size rather than hiding it.
Where the review moment actually is
Checkout, face to face, while the guest is still standing at the desk and the stay is fresh.
Not the follow-up email three days later, when they are back at work and the trip is a memory. The single most common mistake in hospitality is trusting the automated post-stay email to do a job that ten seconds of conversation does far better.
What to order
| Placement | Quantity | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Reception or check-in desk | 1 branded stand | The default. Visible without anyone remembering to produce it. |
| Per room or unit | 1 card per room | For self-catering and lodges where the guest may never pass reception again |
| Restaurant or bar, if you have one | 1 stand per section | A separate review moment with a separate listing in many cases |
| Front-of-house team | 1 card each | So the ask can happen anywhere on the property |
Every unit arrives pre-programmed to your destination and tested. If your listing changes, we repoint it remotely and you keep the same printed card.

The objection we get most
βOur guests already get a Tripadvisor email from the booking platform.β
They do, and it goes to a Tripadvisor listing rather than your Google profile, which is what shows in the map pack when somebody searches accommodation in your town. Those are different assets. A guest who books through a platform is that platform's customer; a guest who reviews you on Google is yours. We supply Tripadvisor units on the same ladder, so this is not either-or.
From our own customers
A Phalaborwa guesthouse in our customer base is the joint best-rated property in its town at 4.7, and dead last on review count at 152 against competitors carrying 194 to 301. Best rating, smallest voice. That gap is the whole opportunity and it is invisible until somebody puts the town on one page.
Running more than one property?
Lodge and guesthouse groups, and anything with more than one property, should read the Branded Fleet programme. Each property gets its own destination and head office gets one view of what every property rates.

Questions
Do these cards need an app or a subscription?
Neither. The card holds a web link that opens in the guest's normal browser. There is no battery, nothing to install, and the hardware carries no compulsory monthly fee.
Can each property point at its own Google listing?
Yes, and it should. Each unit is programmed to the specific property's Google Business Profile so reviews land on the listing the guest actually stayed at. Per-location configuration is included at no extra cost.
Can one card offer both Google and Tripadvisor?
A single unit points at one destination by default. If you want to offer several, the unit points instead at a landing page carrying Google, Tripadvisor and your booking link, which we supply as a separate option at R399.
How long does an order take?
Custom print is 5 to 7 working days before dispatch, then courier nationwide. Non-branded stock ships sooner.
